Marc Pitman sold $84 worth of 50/50 tickets. Gene Beaupre won $42 with #0059697. Marc Pitman (again!!!!) won 10 free tickets to the next 50/50 drawing. Lisa Simm will be our Greeter for next week's meeting on April 27 th.

Sarah Sugden shared that she was happy about her Dad not giving her a hard time about the picture that was in the paper last week-end. She also wanted to remind the group about the upcoming tour of the Hathaway Creative Center being sponsored by Waterville Main St.
Janet Parkhurst informed the Club that April is National Stained Glass Month and that they will be displaying the winners of a competition among their students at the store. Janet shared that the works are remarkable and invited everyone to stop by and view them.
Marc Pitman shared that the next Boot Camp for new Dads will be held on April 25th at Inland.
Bill Arnold had six Happy Dollars, compliments of Mike Roy, as a result of a routing that the Colby baseball team experienced at the hands of Bowdoin.
Sue Guigere shared that she and her staff are very pleased about being nominated as a finalist to the Institute for Family Business.
Tom Longstaff, Chair of the Vocational Services Committee, wanted to thank the members of the committee for their tireless work this year. He shared that Club Members will soon be receiving an email from him regarding the possibility of providing internships to students over the summer and asked Members to seriously consider participating. Tom also shared that the Committee is announcing the competition for the design if the new logo for our Club Banner and solicitation forms can be found on each table. He encouraged Members to take a form and post it in a conspicuous place in order to get the word out. This will be going to involve high school and college students and they are looking forward to receiving many outstanding submissions.
Ally thanked Tom and Elizabeth for their hard work on this project.
Announcements
Because of the Patriot's Day Holiday, there will be no meeting next week. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 27th at the Alfond Youth Center.
A combined fellowship event with the Waterville Sunrise Club will be held at 5:30 PM next Tuesday, April 21st at Cacciatorie's.

Today's Program: Take It Outside (Gary Best from the Maine Department of Conservation, Bureau of Parks and Lands)

Today's speaker was Gary Best, Interpretive Planner with the Maine Department of Conservation Bureau of Parks and Lands, speaking on the Department's "Take it Outside" initiative.
Children are growing up different today. They could identify 1,000 logos but not ten plants growing in their yards. There is a 400% increase in childhood obesity.
A heavy snow storm welcomed kids to a "Take it Outside" youth ice fishing derby at Lake St. George. In spite of the weather, 91 children attended. Some were new to ice fishing. The local community provided food and prizes.
600 persons attended a Family Fun Day at Mt. Blue State Park. In addition to having skates and snow shoes available for kids' use, sleigh rides were also offered. Aroostook State Park hosted a similar event.
"Take it Outside" plans to not only get people outdoors, but also to give them the necessary skills to enjoy being there.
A First Time Camping program provides tents and stoves, along with instructions on how to use them. 32 families will be chosen at random for this free weekend. Go to www.take-it-outside.com to register.
This is an opportunity to build happy memories.take kids outside, catch fish, enjoy Maine's State Parks.
June 6 is national Trails Day. This year's theme is "Take a hike," and fifty group-led hikes are available throughout the state.
A Junior Ranger program is under development, as well as a nature center at Ferry Beach State Park. Fundraising for both is ongoing.
Q. Can Kennebec Messalonskee Trails list its June 6 hike on the Take it Outside website?

Yes.Q. How do you get kids onto trails?
A.
There's lots of competition from TV, the internet, WII, and stranger-danger. USE that technology. Ex.: geo-caching (listing gps coordinates to find an inexpensive "treasure" located along a trail.)Q. Are park staff expected to offer programs?
A.
It depends on the park. There's a nature center at Mt. Blue, and Wolfe Neck offers programs. Check the "Take it Outside" website.Q. Is Baxter State Park part of this program?
A.
