Suzanne Uhl-Melanson sold $122 for the 50/50 raffle today and Gary Hammond was the winner of $61. Gary will sell tickets on March 22nd. Tom Martin won 10 free tickets for next meeting's 50/50 drawing.

Happy Dollars
===========
Steve Kelleher shared that this past week end, he ran in a 5K road rce in Somerville, MA with his daughter and her fiance in the rain, the wind, and the cold with 5,000 other Irishmen .... and is happy that he lived to tell about it.
Kim Hawkes had several Happy Dollars, 1) for the Business Showcase that will be held at the AYC on 4/26/10 and 2) she will be representing the Chamber at that event since she will be leaving the staff of the AYC as of that date.
Jeff Jolicoeur had a Happy Dollar for Sarah Sugden for stepping up to the plate with a pinch hit program today.
Diane Bryan shared a Happy Dollar regarding a $350,000 grant application to support the efforts to renovate the Waterville Opera House. Specifically, the grant application has been allowed to move to the next step in the consideration process, which requires additional information to be provided by the WHO. Diane shared that this is very good news.
Sharon Abrams shared good news regarding a recent adoption accreditation that the Home for Little Wanderers recently received.
Paula Mitchell is happy about the successful knee surgery that her husband recently had.
Bob Ellis shared several Happy Dollars: 1) Several March birthdays in his family, including his 80th, which is on March 18th; ad 2) for the State of Maine, which recently recognized through funding of gold and silver medals, those families in Maine who have lost family members to war. This was very memorable for Bob, who lost his 19 year old brother, a fighter pilot, in World War II.
Lis Simm had a Happy Dollar for a friend, Geri Wilson, who opened a School for Yoga on School St. last year. Lisa shared that it has been very successful and, over the past year, she has done much to give back to the community in terms of offering free classes, and, on one occasion, a day's worth of revenue.
Nikki Desjardins had 2 Happy Dollars: 1) for the Waterville Downtown Cleanup that will occur in April. She will be passing around signup sheets for members to commit their time and wear their Rotary tee shirts; and 2) the Bowl for Kids Sake event that is being scheduled in connection with KV Connect and the Synergy Group in Augusta.
Sarah had 3 Happy Dollars: 1) Fro the signs of Spring we are seeing lately; 2) Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation which recently committed another $50,000 to the Waterville Public Library. She noted that the Foundation had previously given $50,000 to the Library to support its efforts; and 3) for her husband Matt, who she met for the first time in an Irish establishment in Boston 13 years ago on St. Patrick's Day.

Gary Hammond asked the Club Members to put a hold on the evening of May 8th for a Spring Dinner/Auction event at Jim Julia's. More information will be forthcoming soon.
Sarah share that next week we will be having a Club Assembly to go through a Strategic Planning process using a process endorsed By RI. She encouraged everyone to bring their ideas and suggestions as we begin the process of planning for the future of the Club.

Today's Program: An Overview of Rotary's Electronic Meeting Make-up Opportunities (Sarah Sugden)
Sarah indicated that today's speaker cancelled due to another obligation and as such, she thought it would be a good chance to share information with the Club regarding some electronic opportunities to do a make up in the event one has to miss a meeting. Specifically, she used the Club One site as an example of an electronic Rotary Club where programs of all sorts are posted and available to Rotarians.
She took the group through 3 presentations: 1) the sport of ballooning; an Olympic dream of a young girl with a serious health disorder, and finally a first-hand account about polio and Rotary vaccinations in India. At the conclusion, she and Steve went through the confirmation process so as to show how credit is received by a Rotarian. Steve will bring his receipt next week th show how it looks and is received.
