Lisa Hallee sold $82 for the 50/50 raffle today and Al Feather was the winner of $41. Barb Woodlee will sell tickets on December 7th. Barb Woodlee won 10 free tickets for next meeting's 50/50 drawing on December 7th.
World Service Cup

The beneficiary of the donations for this month's World Service Cup will be the Central Asia Institute chronicled by Greg Mortensen in his book Three Cups of Tea.
Fined for pictures in the Paper

Mike Roy and Kim Lindlof had pictures in the paper and were fined $5.00.

Happy Dollars
===========
George Myers had several Happy Dollars ..... 1) It's good to be with the Club today; 2) he no longer has a noon conflict which prevents him from coming to our meeting; and 3) today is his first day at Kennebec Behavioral Health.
Barb Woodlee is just back from Thanksgiving in Virginia where their family got together as a whole for the first time in a long while.
Duane Wheeler shared that he really loves the Holidays and shared a great story about his son's good fortune in securing a new position within days of being laid off.
Al Feather is happy about being able to attend a Rotary meeting where we sing. Not too common in his travels. He also thanked the Clubs for their ongoing support of the Youth Exchange Program.
Elizabeth Vanderweide has had a very busy October/November stretch with the recruitment of 450 babies for the Alfond Scholarship Program and the associated travel. It's good to be back!
Cathy Langlais Cathy shared that 2 years ago her daughter was diagnosed with MS and continues to do very well. She recently closed on a condo and is very happy. Cathy also reported on her first case as part of her involvement with CASA. It was a very involved and interesting hearing.
Sarah Sugden shared that they spent the holiday with family in Massachusetts, visited cousins in Boston, and saw the $(93M library in Cambridge. She said it was really good to get home, however!

Charlie Gaunce reported on bell-ringing. We're scheduled to be at the Wal Mart food entrance on 12/17 & 12/18 from 10AM to 8PM. See him after the meeting to sign up for a time.
Lucille Zelenkiewich shared that the Program Committee is open to suggestions for the Christmas Program the 3rd Monday in December.
Nikki Desjardins indicated that the gift list for the 2 families we are supporting this Christmas is being circulated and that the cups and fines for October and December will go towards additional gifts. On 12/8, there will be a fellowship event at Cacciatore's with the KV Connect Group for gift wrapping and socialization.
John Fortier indicated that the Food Committee for the Auction is looking for desserts. See Sarah, Mike Roy, or Charlie Gaunce if there is anything you'd like to bring.
Don Plourde indicated that Membership proposal sheets are on all tables and available on-line.
Tim reported on Auction preparations and asked people scheduled for a 6PM start to get there at 5:30 in order to get something to eat and get settled in. He reviewed the gaps in the schedule which were filled by the end of his presentation. There will be a brief meeting of the Auction Committee immediately after we adjourn.
Finally, as we come to the end of Rotary Foundation Month, Sarah urged the membership to show their appreciation for all the hard work the Foundation Committee is doing this year.

Today's Program: Rotary Youth Exchange Student Presentation (Anita Diaz)
Waterville Sunrise Club Rotarian Jim deLorme introduced Winslow High School senior Anita Diaz. Diaz will spend this school year as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student, sponsored jointly by the two Waterville clubs. She is currently living with Celeste and Kevin Levasseur in Winslow.
Anita Diaz is from La Plata, Argentina. Average low temperature in La Plata is around 49 degrees, and Diaz has never seen snow. She is 17 and has a brother Santiago, age 14. Her mother teaches college classes on art and her father restores books.
Diaz is studying Pre-calculus, English, American Government and Law, French, and Modern Chemistry. Her extra-curricular activities include track. She enjoys shopping, hanging out with friends, and music. She also enjoys helping her classmates with their Spanish homework. In her native Argentina, she enjoys sailing at Club Regatas La Plata with her father.
Next year Diaz plans to study economics at the University of Economics in Argentina. College is free in Argentina, and students attend day classes and return home each evening.
Improving her command of English is a main reason Diaz chose the US for her exchange year. She began studying English nine years ago. A friend had spent a year in Virginia as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student, and recommended the experience to Diaz.
As to American foods, she enjoys fettuccini alfredo, and since she's here to learn "everything", she intends to try every different food she can. She wants to ski this winter, and will take a school trip to New York in March.
After her presentation, Sarah presented Anita with a certificate that 5 children will receive polio vaccinations in her name as a token of appreciation and with the thanks and best wishes of the Club.
