Guiding Eyes for the Blind

Dave started volunteering with his dog Moose in 2011 after becoming a certified therapy dog team with Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Since that time, Dave & Moose have made over 350 visits to Maine Medical Center, Seal Rock Healthcare, Long Creek Youth Development Center, Central Maine Medical Center, Clover Healthcare and other high schools and facilities.

Dave’s wife Tricia started her canine volunteering career by teaming up with Dave & Moose at Biddeford Middle School while visiting a second-grade class. Tricia is a natural having been a children’s librarian for 13 years.

Last year, Tricia & Dave became trained puppy raisers for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. They got their first puppy, Cody, in May of 2017, worked with him to develop good house manners and social skills and brought him back to GEB in May of this year. Colton, who came to them right around the time that Cody went back, is their new trainee. Tricia & Dave plan to train more puppies in the future.
